ARE VOLCANOS AND EARTHQUAKES RELATED?
Volcanoes and earthquakes seem very different on the outside, but they are actually closely related; they both result from movements from the lithosphere (the Earth's crust). The lithosphere is made out of some major plates and some minor plates that change shape and position over time. These plates move and interact with each oter. The plates are responsible for the formation of volcanoes, earthquakes, and many other things.

HOW LONG DO EARTHQUAKES LAST?
Generally, only seconds. Strong ground shaking during a large earthquake usually lasts about 10 to 30 seconds. Aftershocks can occur at unexpected times for weeks or months.

WHAT IS THE EPICENTER OF AN EARTHQUAKE?
The epicenter of an earthquake is the location directly above the hypocenter. The epicenter is on the surface of the earth.
